Constructive team agreements focus on the behaviour and how the team interacts with each other and with stakeholders. For a team to perform independently of its sector, it must declare itself ready to stop these team behaviours for weeks. For the Happy Melly team, the way we started was how we installed Zoom, the video conferencing tool, and with Zoom, an online note box in [inaudible – 01:59]. And all I did was put 4 grip notes on the board, one information, one called Communication, and one called Collaboration. And then I also have an extra sticky note on the tools alone, because I was curious about what tools people thought was important, what they were using or what had just happened. It also shows your commitment to the well-being of your team and is an effective team building activity that encourages each team member to participate. So how do you react as a team? Do you accept the differences between men? Do you recognize that diversity is a good thing? Do you congratulate people for their opinion? Do you use language and behavior ”above the line”? (Here we have a whole podcast and a template about it.) Whether it`s an enterprise agreement between startup creators, a secure communication agreement within a team or ground rules for a project committee, each team has agreements on how it will work together. Availability protocols are part of a team agreement that clarifies how people communicate, when they are present and are available to respond to communication tools such as email, chat and calendar applications. You can set the VA at the beginning of a project (Sprint 0) and check the list in retrospectives or if the team requests changes. You can also set the VA at meetings that make your job easier. Suppose you are working with a team you are not familiar with and they will allow, for example, a retrospective or training. During this meeting, you guide the group through a series of questions that examine everyone`s preferences and expectations.
Then you work together to establish your team agreement. What are the expectations of the team members? Meetup`s product manager, Giff Constable, has published the team agreements of one of his former teams in table form. You can use the first few minutes of the meeting to draw up a short list of work agreements that only apply to that event. This approach helps all participants achieve the same way of thinking and helps you as a moderator manage the event smoothly and with clear expectations. Step 2: Discovering Team Responsibility All participants take a little time to read what everyone has written and ask clarifying questions from the author of each card until each team member understands what they can count on from others.
